Blues Unsigned Prospects Set to Commit to NCAA in the Upcoming Year

The St. Louis Blues have several prospects that are either continuing their NCAA career's or are making the jump to the NCAA after finishing their stints in the Canadian juniors. Now one thing to note is that the two prospects that are making this decision also have not signed ELC contracts with the Blues that would otherwise make them ineligible to play in the NCAA.

The first prospect that that will be continuing his NCAA career is 2nd round defenseman from the 2023 Draft, Colin Ralph. Colin had a very quiet but effective freshman season at St. Cloud State University, posting 8 points in 35 games. He also was apart of the Gold medal team USA at the 2024 World Juniors, where he had 1 assist in 7 games.

Statistical summary of a player's performance for the 2024-25 season shows participation with St. Cloud State University in the NCAA, scoring 8 points in 35 games, and representing the USA U20 team in the WJC-20, scoring 1 point in 7 games.

Ralph will be transferring this next season to Michigan State University as he jumps from the National Collegiate Hockey Conference to the Big Ten Conference. I will also point out that he will be jumping from a team ranked 36th to a team ranked 2nd in the country. This alone speaks volumes as to how Michigan State sees Ralph as someone who can potentially help them win a Frozen Four title.

The other Blues prospect that will be making the jump into the NCAA is 6th round defenseman from the 2023 Draft Mathew Mayich. Mayich finished the last year of his juniors career with the Ottawa 67's scoring 42 points in 66 games. Mayich was the best scoring defenseman for the 67's who did not qualify for the OHL post season.

Ottawa 67's 2024-25 OHL season stats: 66 games played, 7 goals, 35 assists, totaling 42 points, with a plus/minus of -17.

Mayich will be committing to the D1 ice hockey program at Clarkson University a member of the Eastern College Athletic Conference who are currently ranked at 20th in the country. As it stands Mayich will be the only player on Clarkson that has been drafted by an NHL team. This may change post the 2025 Draft results.
